Edge Intensive.

Aug 25, 2020

A couple of weeks ago McKenna and her friend Mackenzie attended one of the Edge School's dance intensive. She went last year and really loved it so we decided since we couldn't do Alberta Ballet that this would be the next best thing. We stayed at my Dad's in Okotoks and made the hour drive there and back every day. Which meant I needed to find things to do in the city to kill time each day while they danced. The first day I went to Bowness Park and rode my bike around the river. It is so beautiful there and I really enjoyed my afternoon having some solo adventures. Riding my bike across a busy bridge with traffic coming towards me was a little sketchy but its all part of making memories.

Face timing this little one every night and chillin on the deck by the fire was my fave way to spend my evenings.

On day two I went out to Cross Iron Mills and did some browsing and a little shopping. After dance I took the girls for bubble tea at a place that had a huge menu it was really quite overwhelming, but we all enjoyed our drinks.

In the evenings the girls tried to remember what they learned and would perform for me in the backyard. If they did a good job they got a treat.

I'm kidding. Gramma's and Grampa's just always have good treats. It was fun to see what they were learning.

Day three I headed to the mountains and spent the day in Canmore. I did my fave hike ever. Grassi Lakes. It was heaven.

Isn't it gorgeous. If you have never done this hike then put it on your bucket list. It is a must do and see. Its super easy and short and the lakes are amazing. Then I went to Quarry Lake to eat a picnic lunch and just chill and relax.

Before I headed back to the city I made a pit stop at the candy store to get some salt water taffy's.

And then to Fergie's bakery to get an apple fritter because they are literally the best thing ever. So deadly, but in a good way.

Day four I did some more mall hopping and shopping. Day five, the last day, I went back to Bowness and walked around the river. Another beautiful day.

By this time I was done with all the driving and all my solo adventures and was ready to go home. It was a good week, and the girls had fun and learned a lot. We stopped at the mall on our way home and grabbed these delicious donuts.

We actually had to pick Ryan up from an eye place where he was getting a consult for Lasik. But then after that, we headed home. It felt so good to sleep in my own bed.
