Hello Fresh.

May 30, 2020

I've heard about these meal box delivery subscriptions for years now but anytime I researched them I just found that they weren't really practical for a family of 6. I've always really wanted to try one though. My sister in-law uses Hello Fresh and sent me an invite for a free box to try out. The free box included 3 meals but I think you can get 4 if you want. I got to go online and look through the selections they had for that week and pick my 3 meals to try. We set it up for 2 people, but you can also select 4. With the kids being so picky and all liking basic things, we thought it would be easier just to do it for Ryan and I. Then I decided to get the kids to each pick a meal and be in charge of cooking it one night a week so that I didn't have to be in charge of 2 meals in one night. This actually turned out to be amazing. The kids loved picking out and cooking their meals for each other, and didn't care at all that they were eating something different then us. So our experience with Hello Fresh was really good. The box came to our door Wednesday late afternoon (you can choose which day it gets delivered).

Inside the box each meal comes in a brown paper bag. Underneath that is the frozen stuff with ice packs.

The first meal we chose was the Honey Mustard Pork chops

It comes with pretty much all the ingredients. I think there are only a few things that it doesn't come with which most people have in their pantry like cooking oil. This meal was really really good.

Next meal we chose was a cheesy stuffed squash ravioli bake. This was probably my fave out of the 3. It was so so good.

The 3rd was my least favourite. Korean beef bibimbap.

All three were really good, and we were actually really impressed. It was actually fun to cook these meals and the convenience was just so nice. We decided to continue to get it but every other week instead of every week. It's $9.99 per person per meal, and then like $10 for shipping, so it comes to about $80 for the week we order it. Its so easy to manage your account, pick your meals and skip weeks, and customize it to your needs. We're going to try it out for awhile and just see how we like it and see if its worth it. Ryan and I will get new and delicious meals we might not ever cook on our own and the kids will learn how to cook their own meals. Win-win if you ask me. Anyone else use a meal subscription box?
