Thursday morning McKenna had her special day at school and she got to take 10 things from home to share with her class. She brought Hayley as one of them. It was fun to hang out and spend some time in McKenna's classroom. Hayley loved all the attention. Its crazy to think that she will be starting school in the Fall.
After we were done in the classroom I drove Hayley out to Adam and Brit's. She was spending the night. Then back into town to pick up McKenna from school. We ate, did some last minute packing and then our friends met us at our house and we all drove up together. The girls watched a movie while Tamara and I chatted. We got into Calgary and checked into the hotel, then headed over to the University to make sure we knew where we were going for the next morning. Its a good thing we did because we were completely lost. The map we had was useless and we were wandering around in the freezing cold. Luckily we talked to the right person and he directed us to where the competition was held. He also told us we could go into the building next us and walk down to our building which was a huge help because it was so cold outside. That saved us all weekend from having to walk as long and as far outside in the cold. After that we went to Chili's for supper and then back to the hotel to go to bed. We had to be up early to dance the next morning.
We had to wake up at 6:00am and be ready to leave by 7:00am to head over to the University. Tara and Elliot were picking us up so we could all go over together. We were so impressed with ourselves for getting us all ready and at the University in plenty of time. The girls were performing jazz first. They did so good and ended up getting high gold and most outstanding performance.
They didn't have to dance until 3:00pm, so we went and got breakfast and then watched some of the other dances and cheered on our studio. After lunch we went and got ready for their next dance and hung out in the change room. The girls had fun playing stella ella ola, and building plastic cup towers until it was time for them to dance. Ballet was up next and they got another high gold.
After we were done ballet we headed to the Mall and walked around for a bit and then went for supper at Milestone.

I love these girls and was so glad to have them with me through all the dance craziness. |
Then it was back to the hotel for another early night. The girls danced at 8:30am again so another early morning for us. It was a lot harder to get up the next morning and we were all moving a little slower but we got them ready and out the door in plenty of time. They did another good job on their tap and got high gold and another most outstanding performance trophy. The kids were really happy and us Momma's were really proud of how well they did all weekend. It was a good first competition. Now to get ready for the next one in April, We hear the competition will be a lot more stiff, but I think our little's can handle it.

These two loved being roommates all weekend |
Wow, very cool! I don't know what "high gold" means exactly but it sounds pretty darn good haha. Good for you, McKenna!
