Movies and hot chocolate.

Nov 17, 2014

We haven't been up to anything really exciting lately. Just normal daily living, which I guess is eventful enough. We had the boys Student LED conferences, which is where we go into their class and they show us what they have been working on and the teacher is present if we have any questions or concerns. Both of the boys are doing really well and the teachers had mostly positive things to say. Ty needs to work on slowing down. He really wants to get things done quick so he tends to rush. And Nate needs to speak up more. Raise his hand when he knows the answer. He is quite content to just sit there quietly. At the end of Nate's he needed to come up with a goal to work on. He wanted to work more on his reading. He is a very good reader and already reads at a grade 8 level and he is in grade 4. I questioned him on this and said your already good at that why don't you think of something else. Then he said "but I really want to get to a grade 12 level." He reminded me that we can always work harder even if its something we are already good at.  I really want my kids to be able to come up with their own goals and work hard to reach them. I think goal setting is so important all throughout life. I was impressed that he had such a concrete goal and wrote down how he would achieve it. So proud of these handsome boys of mine. I haven't had McKenna's yet because her teacher has been really sick.

We had Remembrance Day. Hayley and I went to the kids concert at school. Ty and McKenna are in the choir and were singing. It was a really nice program. I honestly don't think much about those who have fought for the freedom's in which we have so it was really nice to be reminded. I feel like the best way I can thank all those people who lived before us and have sacrificed so much so we can have what we have now is to try my best to live a good and happy life. To serve and to love the people around me. To fight the small battles around our community to keep our lives safe and free. It was especially nice to have an extra long weekend. We took the kids out for supper to Ihop one night and then went to the Holiday Inn to swim the next night. We had so much fun. Ryan has been working a lot so it was so nice to spend some extra time as a family.

McKenna and I went to the Lethbride Musical Theater's performance of Guys and Dolls. Three of her teachers were in it dancing, and another one had choreographed it. It started really late so we only watched it to the intermission. McKenna was tired and ready to go home. It was fun to see her teachers but the actual play was more for adults and was way over her head, so I think she was a little bored. It was a fun girls night out though.

The weather has gotten really, really cold, so to be honest we have mostly been hanging out all day in our pajama's and watching movies, and drinking a lot of hot chocolate. Trying to find the positive's to this awful cold weather.
