We had a lot going on this weekend. Ryan's Grandma passed away last week so we had funeral stuff Thursday night and Friday. Grandma June lived right next door to Roy & Connie so we got to spend a lot of time with her. She is such a fantastic person and I have loved getting to know her over the years. We will miss her music, slippers, racko skills, jello salad, and her presence at family gatherings. I am grateful for her example of service and love. We also had McKenna's first dance show this weekend. Competition season is coming up in a few weeks so the studio rents the yates and the kids have a chance to perform all their competition piece's for their family and friends.
Thursday afternoon Dave came and got the boys so they could go out to the farm and spend some time with Ben. Our Olsen cousins were only here for a couple of days for the funeral. Ryan and Hayley headed out after work. McKenna had a dance practice that we couldn't miss so we headed out right after that and got to the meet the family and viewing a little late. It was nice to visit with family. Then we headed to Roy & Connie's and got ready for bed. Friday morning we had another meet the family and viewing and then the funeral. It was a beautiful celebration of a beautiful woman. Then to the grave sight, and then back to the church for a luncheon. It was a really nice day. After the funeral McKenna and I headed back into Lethbridge for her dance buddy party. Its a team building party for the dance kids. The younger kids get paired up with an older dancer and they eat pizza and do some activities together. Its nice because they get to know someone a little better and they look out for each other throughout the dance competitions. I volunteered to help out at it so I got to see it all go down. It was really fun and such a great idea. McKenna had so much fun and loves her buddy already. When it was over we headed home and got ready for bed. Ryan and the kids got home right after we did. They had fun spending time with their cousin's.
Saturday morning Ty had his Kub Car rally, and McKenna had a dance rehearsal at the yates. Then it was home for lunch and taking Nate to basketball. I met Brit at old Navy and picked up Ginger, then back to the house for supper and getting McKenna ready for the big show. Ryan and I took McKenna to the show while Ginger stayed to babysit the kids. Roy & Connie came to watch McKenna too. The show was amazing as always. Its always fun to get to see all the solo's and duets. McKenna was in three group dances and they did such a good job. I was so proud of her. She looks so good out there and always has a huge smile on her face. It was a long night and we didn't get home until 11:00pm. On the drive home McKenna said she wished we were just going to the show and she could do it all over again, and that she was going to get her tap shoes on when we got home and keep dancing. Ha ha. Of course that didn't happen and she went right to bed. But I'm glad she loves it so much. I love being a dance Mom, running back stage getting her ready for the next dance, the atmosphere, all the other dancers and Mom's in the studio, just everything about it. Sunday we did absolutely nothing. We relaxed all day and just spent time together as a family. The perfect way to end a busy, but really good weekend.
