I have so many amazing Women in my life. Even though my own Mother has passed on I will always remember the woman she was and the things that she taught me. Sometimes I miss her a lot, especially on Mother's Day. She was my best friend. But more then anything I want to thank her for the beautiful person she was and all that she has done for me. I can do this by trying to be the best person that I can be. By learning from her and always keeping her in my heart and trying to live the life she would want for me.
Mother's Day started for me on Thursday when I went to a party at McKenna's school. It is so cute how each child will come to the door to welcome their Mom's and show them to their seats. Then they served us lemon cake and strawberries with juice. They put on a program by modelling some fun and interesting hats. Both the boys modeled a golf hat so Mckenna wanted the same one, but ended up getting a deck of cards hat. Then they sang us a song, danced for us, then we got to dance with them. They gave us a present and told us what they thought we were the best at. McKenna said I was the best at painting her nails. It was really nice to have that special time with McKenna.
I had Youth Conference Friday and Saturday.
Sunday Ryan made me a Smoothie for breakfast, and then the kids gave me all their homemade gifts and cards from school. I love how happy and excited they are when they give gifts. They were all wonderful and precious just like my children. Love them.
I taught YW's. I didn't have much time for the lesson because of one thing or another. I ended up sharing what I wrote right after my Mom passed away. I've put it on my blog before so I'm not going post it again, but it was what I was feeling in that moment. I really wanted to stress to the girls that even though I only got to spend a short 27 years with my Mom, I still learned a life time of lessons from her because of the amazing woman she was. I told them that we can all be that amazing. That we should be trying each day to be better and touch someone else's life in some way. It is what being a Woman is all about. I wanted them to know that life is short. We don't know our future's or anyone else's, and so we need to live each day like it matters. Because it does. It went really well. I really love the girls. They each have touched my life and I have complete confidence in each of them and the choices they are making. We also got a yummy cookie bouquet from the kids that they made in Primary. It was such a nice and appreciated gift. The kids were kind enough to help me eat it, but Ty made sure to stress that I got 2 cookies and the rest of them only got one.
I spent the rest of the day relaxing. I was exhausted from a busy week. Ryan took care of everything and made a delicious dinner. My little brother came over and it was nice to visit with him. It was a pretty great day. I love being a Mother and especially a Woman.
