Anniversary Weekend in Banff.

Nov 28, 2016

Ryan and I just got back from celebrating our 13th anniversary. We went to Banff and Canmore for the weekend. With the house build we both definitely needed a weekend away. We dropped the kids off at my Dad and Penny's and headed out Friday morning. We stopped in Calgary to do a little Christmas shopping and then made it to Shannon's place just before supper. We ordered pizza from Red Rock Pizza which is the pizza place my brother in-law runs and owns. It was delicious as always, and we just chilled and watched Gilmore Girls, Fresh Prince, and Friends.

We got up the next morning and headed into Banff. We wanted to hike Johnston's Canyon and after driving 30 minutes to get there, it ended up being closed. I was bummed because I'd heard it was a really beautiful hike. We ended up doing half of another hike in the area and then went into the townsite for lunch. Whenever we go to Banff we have to get Beaver Tails...well that ended up being closed for maintenance too. So disappointing. We did a little shopping, then went to check out the Banff Springs Hotel. I'd never been there before. It was amazing and beautiful, and I could have spent hours exploring. It is almost like a castle. After that we headed back to Canmore to visit with Shannon before she went to work, and then we went out for dinner. The restaurant was completely full with a couple of Christmas party's and the only seats were at the bar. We'd walked there and didn't feel like going anywhere else so we sat squished and surrounded by other people. Not what I envisioned for our anniversary dinner, but the food was good and we made it work. We had such bad luck on this trip. I hope that isn't a sign...Anyway, we went back to the apartment and binge watched Friends. A perfect way to end the evening.

The next morning we went out for a nice breakfast and then headed back to Calgary to do a little more Christmas shopping, and then went and picked up the kids. They were happy to see us but wanted to stay longer. I guess next time we will have to plan a longer trip. It was such a nice weekend. I have loved the last 13 years with Ry and I can't wait to see what our future holds.

Love you Ry. And thank you to Shan and Jody for letting us take over their house for the weekend, and to Dad, Penny, and Ginger for taking such good care of our kids.

Ha ha. Boys have it so easy
